This is the finished cover for my forthcoming album, 'Another Will Be Along." For those unaware, my late grandmother, Lori Wilhelm, was a renowned artist in the midwest. She passed away a few years back after losing a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was most well-known for her freehand, pen & ink pieces, such as this one. With them, she immortalized an untold number of architectural landmarks in her hometown of McHenry, Illinois, as well as a number of other buildings and structures across the country, including some here in Utah.
I felt strongly about using a piece of her artwork for the cover, because whatever tiny sliver of artistic creativity I may possess came to me directly from her and my mother. This piece depicts a corner drug store in my grandmother's aforementioned hometown of McHenry, in northern Illinois along the Fox River. While I feel that I may have slightly defamed this drawing by putting my name on it, I am nonetheless proud to have it on the cover of my first album. Still no date for a release (Russell is a busy, busy man). Aside from the Urban Lounge on the 28th, I'll be posting a few new show dates very soon. Hope to see some of you there. Cheers, friends.
